Dax is dead, killed in 2387. Both host and symbiote are no more, so former XO Sam Bowers now commands the Aventine. And CBS is to blame as they gave the novelists the green light to create an official Prime Timeline of Expanded Universe novels.
The novelists are fighting back though with the Coda , and have dropped hints that DISC, PICARD, LOWER DECKS, and STRANGE NEW WORLDS are all alternate timelines, and ones that could be destroyed in the growing temporal apocalypse.
