Wanted to try the look of the Quarian ships before the Morning War with the Geth.
Some of the ships are inspired by the early concepts of Quarian ships from the "Art of Mass Effect" Book.

You know it would be interesting if the quarians managed fleet managed to made first contact with humans first before turians. Though in crossover idea I love idea of the quarians encountering the exodus fleet and becoming allies with them. Exodus fleet is actually from BattleTech and is what left of the star league forces who went into self exile. Both fleets that been wandering stars for years have chance meeting and find the two fleets finding they have bit of common yet still different.
