Description

This is my Rifle Version of the On screen seen Handphaser in Star Trek Undiscovered Country.
Normally there is always a hand phaser and an associated phaser rifle with the same looking style. But in the first six Trek Movies we seen only Handphasers in different types. No Rifles.

I made this prop from wood. It was previously an old wall cabinet door i found in trash. Working time was around three days. A fourth day went for the paint on it. Simply made with jigsaw, filler, file and grater. Full lenght is 61 cm.
The complete project cost me 4 Euros for filler and paints.

If you like this, i have an step to step version from the work in progress model here: Assault Rifle Star Trek 6 Prop by Euderion

I just thought I'd let you know that I recently had this puppy developed.

This was the long-lost "Assassin Phaser" from "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country."  Before they had Colonel West put on a Klingon disguise to try to assassinate the Federation President, he was going to use a heavily modified Assault Phaser that had been turned into a sniper carbine by adding a stock, scope and muzzle extension (like what they did with the Walther P-38 in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," an old spy series on American TV).

They had even gotten to a prototype prop before they changed the whole scene.  But after the script changed and West was disguised as a Klingon, they couldn't have him use a Phaser anymore because it didn't make any sense.  So the prototype "Assassin Phaser" was discarded and West got a Klingon disruptor rifle instead.  But because a photo was taken of the original "Assassin Phaser" prop and documentation was there, a small number of people still knew about it, including me, so I had a propmaker friend recreate the weapon for me.

Mine is actually the first of three initial prototypes and it's really more of a unique variant as the other versions are better proportioned and have a more show-accurate black paint scheme.  I don't consider that weapon to be a true "Rifle" because in military terms it's little more than a Pistol modified for greater stability, longer range and stealth.  It's more of a Carbine than anything else, whereas your prop is what I would consider a true Assault Rifle - it's probably like the Phaser version of an American M-16.

But I think all three props put together - the Assault Phaser pistol, the Assassin Phaser (Carbine) and your Assault Rifle - would look nice together as a "complete" family of weapons. =)
