Alliance Fighter types

Description

These are the basic Starfighter types of the System Alliance. The Fighter, the Interceptor and the Bomber.

Fighters are mostly one man crafts used to perform close-range attacks on enemy ships. They are leightweighted enough that they can be economically fitted with powerful element zero cores making them capable of greater acceleration and sharper manouvers as larger ships.
Fighters are mostly there to destroy enemy fighters and the shields of capital ships.

Trident SX3 Fighter

The Trident class is a over 30 Year old design which was redesign and refited over and over again. It is proof of a solid working design which is always brought up to the latest tech. The Mk3 or SX3 is the newest variation of the Trident Fighter which was put into service a Year after the Battle of the Citadel against the Geth Armada.
Kinetic barrier shields changed starship battles from short, vicious bloodbaths to extended, indecisive slugging matches. Only the main gun of a dreadnought could punch a mass accelerator slug through the barriers of an opposing dreadnought. This changed with the development of the fighter-launched mass disruptor torpedo, a short-ranged weapon that can penetrate kinetic barriers to destroy their projector assemblies.
The Trident holds 3 Disruptor Torpedos per Wing. A squadron of 8 Fighters are typically capable of eliminate the shields of a cruiser size capital ship.

Trishul Interceptor

Interceptors like the Trishul are a type of fighter optimized to attack other fighters, with no ability to damage starships bigger than a Corvette. Interceptors are used to screen friendly units from incoming fighter attack.
Trishul Interceptors were designed for widespread use in the Alliance Navy because the ship is easy to build without major cost. Designed as a fighter killer, the Trishuls  specially designed Element Zero engine produces thousands of pounds of thrust more than the next leading star fighter. The ship has a single pilot with a VI to support with automatic aiming, the Trishul has top of the line detection equipment, designed to spot and catch fighters and frigates.
While the Interceptor has teeth, her main weakness is shields. While her kinetic barriers are still strong, they are nowhere near what is required in a full combat situation. Relying mainly on speed and fast strikes, the Trishul is not recommended for a pilot with half a brain.
Trishul Fighters had no FTL cabability so they are reliant on a Carrier ship or a near base to refueling.

Bumblebee Bomber

The Bumblebee is not the heaviest bomber unit the Systems Alliance possess, but the most successful on her missions. The bomber has a stealth system which can make him completely invisible for several minutes for enemy sensors. When he approached the enemy through the stealth system, he can deliver his deadly freight. Armed with 2 Mass Accelerator Guns and 2 launcher loaded with 16 Disruptor Torpedos (8 per wing) a pair of Bumblebees can shred the shield of cruiser size capital ships.
The Bumblebee has also two hardpoints under it's aerodynamic frame, capable of holding anything from a Mass Accelerator Gatling Pod to a Tactical Nuclear Missile. More often than not, it is armed with the latter, to deal with larger threats on both space and ground.
